B.Tech Biomedical is for the 4-year program. Biomedical Engineering is a branch of Biological Engineering or Chemical engineering. B.Tech. Biochemical is an undergraduate Biochemical Engineering Course. The course aims to progress in food and environmental protection industries and relevant industries to healthcare/medical.

This course is Technology, Science, and Engineering driven. The concepts of Enzyme technology, Genetics, Industrial Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Bio-informatics, Phase Equilibrium Thermodynamics & Property Estimation, Thermodynamics, and Biochemical Reaction Engineering have been introduced in this course.

In this course, students learn a number of things like packaging food items after processing, preservation of food, improving food quality, maintaining the health factor, reducing the use of toxins and much more. Many industries rely on biochemical engineering and there is a vast scope in both domestic and foreign job markets.

Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Biomedical

1. Applicants must have a 10+2 qualification from a recognized board on Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in Class 12th.

2. Applicants must achieve at least 50% to 60% of the points in the relevant proficiency tests.

3. Eligibility conditions for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD categories will be 45% marks in the qualifying examinations.

4. Applicants must not be younger than 17 at the time of application.

Admission Process 

1. Colleges publish admission notices on their website from June when most Indian universities would have finished degree exams.

2. Candidate to apply for each college, as each college considers each mark the cut-off mark.

3. Some private colleges and deemed universities perform their counselling process by conducting their university-level entrance exams.

4. Some colleges require a minimum of 50% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

5. Candidates who qualify for the test are called for an interview before the final seat allotment.

6. Some of the entrance exams for BTech are JEE Main, WBJEE, JEE Advanced, KCET etc.

Career after B.Tech Biomedical

Candidates who are really interested in making a practical contribution to helping people and society are suitable for this course. The production of new drugs to fight disease, developing realistic ways for sustainable energy generation, and providing efficient technologies for combating climate change.

They can go for jobs in relevant industries including oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, energy, water treatment, food and drink, plastics, and toiletries. In all such companies, candidates are hired for the post of Quality control officer, Food Technologist, Food Scientist, Product Development Scientist etc.

Many leading companies and organizations release jobs for multiple sectors. The students can also do a government job after completing this course alongside various private jobs. There is enough scope after doing this course. Candidates can work in materials production, development, and research in the industrial sector, or as materials experts in high-level consultancy and management positions.

Salaries after B.Tech in Biochemical Engineering Usually, core sector jobs offer more excellent salary packages and salaries vary from Rs. 4 lakh to Rs. 11 lakh per annum. However, consultancies and other organizations pay packages ranging from Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 3.5 lakh.
